(Saturday, September 14): Splish Splash Doggie Bash

“Bring your pup to make a splash in the Waterpark! Splashing/swimming with your pup not allowed. Dogs must arrive on a leash and be accomplished by an adult 18 years old or older, one dog per adult. Pet-friendly vendors and Kona Ice will be on site.

Small Dogs (20lbs & under): 11:00am – 12:00pm
Medium Dogs (21lbs – 50lbs): 12:15pm – 1:15pm
Large Dogs (50lbs & up): 1:30pm – 2:30pm
 
Pre-Registration is required to participate in the event. Proof of spaying or neutering and vaccinations (distemper, rabies, parvo) is required. Rabies tags are not acceptable proof. Email records to [email protected] or bring to the event. Pet handlers must be 18 years old or older, one dog per person. Dogs must arrive on a leash. Owners will not be splashing in the water with the dog. Dogs will be off leash in the water area and will be at their owner’s risk. Dog owners must clean up after their pet. Unruly dogs will be asked to leave. Puppies under 16 weeks are not allowed in. Sick dogs will not be allowed in the event.”

Saturday, September 21-22: Pooches in the Park

“Tails will be wagging at our 9th annual Pooches in the Park on Saturday and Sunday this year! Plan on bringing the entire pack (dogs and kid friendly) to Braselton Park on Harrison St. from 10am to 5pm.

Sniff out some fun new accessories and treats for Fido or meet some local pooch services such as vets, groomers, and boarders.

Visit the New Dog Park Now Open at the Peachtree Corners Town Green

Situated behind the CineBistro building near the Town Green, the Peachtree Corners Off-Leash Dog Park is approximately 9,000 square feet and is divided into sections for smaller and larger dogs. This wonderful pet feature boasts both natural and artificial turf areas. The park features a plaza with a shade sail, water fountains, pet waste containers, shaded benches, and enhanced landscaping.

Saturday, October 5: AWE Volunteer Orientation

Prior to registering for Volunteer Orientation participants must complete a waiver of liability. 

Take the first step to becoming a volunteer with Gwinnett Animal Welfare & Enforcement! The Volunteer Orientation will cover all aspects of volunteering in the shelter including volunteer positions, policies, next steps, and more. After the Orientation, you’ll be asked to sign-up for a hands-on training, then you’ll be ready to volunteer! The orientation will be hosted in-person at our shelter and will not include animal handling.

A few ways volunteers can help at the shelter include walking dogs, giving cats individual attention, washing laundry, cleaning kennels, and helping at special and outreach events.  

****The minimum age to volunteer is 12 years old. If you are interested in volunteering and between the ages of 12 – 17 years old, a parent or guardian must also register for the orientation and volunteer with you at all times.
