Preview Day events provide opportunities to learn more about GGC, and the access it provides to a high-quality, 4-year college education with the personal experience you deserve.

“Do you know a Gwinnett youth who’s making a difference? Nominate them for the Rising Star Award!
The Gwinnett Police Rising Star Award honors local middle and high school students who show exceptional dedication to volunteerism and community service. Recipients of this award are youth who inspire positive change and enrich their communities through these traits:
Leadership: Builds unity and serves their community with a spirit of leadership.
Social Responsibility: Improves lives through service in programs like sports, social groups, and outreach.
Change Agent: Inspires others by promoting positive values and self-improvement.
Nominations are open through March 28, 2025, for volunteer activities completed between January 2024 to December 2024. Recognized Rising Stars will be celebrated in May 2025.

(High School Students) – “GUIDE is pleased to announce that applications are available to join the GUIDE Youth Advisory Board (YAB) for the 2025-2026 school year!
The GUIDE Youth Advisory Board is a group of high school students from across Gwinnett County who come together to learn leadership skills, provide input to various aspects of GUIDE programming and conduct substance abuse prevention projects.

“Join our Badges and Youth Education Program!
Once a month, high schoolers are invited to connect with us at precincts across Gwinnett for interactive sessions on a variety of topics!
Each class covers a new subject, giving students a chance to learn, engage, and explore topics they’re most interested in.”
Ages: Grades 9-12
April 15: Firearm safety and financial fraud prevention
May 13: Drug Awareness & Drowning Prevention
August 12: Personal safety and Explorer program
September 16: Criminal Procedure, when do you have to provide ID and what is a Terry stop?

“Join us for our monthly Teen Advisory Council (TAC) meeting where you can help with library programs and earn volunteer credit!
TAC is a library volunteer club that meets once a month for teens! TAC members assist with creating and planning library teen programs. Volunteers earn 2 hours of volunteer credit for every 1-hour meeting.

“Gwinnett County high school student participants have the opportunity to explore careers in health care while building relationships with PCOM Georgia faculty and student mentors during this summer STEM camp.
The PCOM Georgia Opportunities Academy takes place annually in the month of June at PCOM Georgia in Suwanee, GA. This program is available to Gwinnett County area high school students at no cost.

“Can you read 100 books before you graduate high school? To take this challenge, just log what you read- even assigned reading counts! Books read for this challenge will count toward any other challenge goals as well.”

Youth 13-17 are eligible for the Scott Riner’s Prison Awareness Program if:
> They are exhibiting behavioral issues at home, in school, or are currently involved with the juvenile and/or criminal justice system
> They have experienced suspension and/or expulsion
>They exhibit risky behavior such as any dealings with drugs/alcohol
>They exhibit abusive behavior towards parents, guardians, or adults in authority.
